83% of Individual Deposits in Azerbaijan’s Active Banks are Protected

Baku: 83% of individual deposits in active banks across Azerbaijan are currently safeguarded, while the remaining 17% remain unprotected, stated Sevinj Salimova, an employee of the Public Relations Department of the Deposit Insurance Fund, during the Dialogue and Cooperation Forum dedicated to National Press Day.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Salimova highlighted that, in terms of the overall deposit portfolio, a substantial 99.76% of deposits are protected. A minor fraction of 0.21% remains unprotected, and 0.03% consists of funds belonging to individuals placed in notaries' deposit accounts.

Of the protected deposits, 76.2% are held in the national currency, while 23.7% are in foreign currencies. The current maximum interest rates eligible for deposit insurance stand at 12% for deposits in the national currency and 2.5% for those in foreign currencies.
