Group of companies “Abrau-Durso” acquires a winery in Azerbaijan. The company said in a statement, TASS news agency reported.

Note that “Group of companies Abrau-Durso represented by its subsidiary AzAbrau won the privatization tender for purchase of Sheki Sharab wine factory in Sheki region of Azerbaijan with a capacity of 2.6 million bottles per year,” the company said in a statement.

The tender commission approved the investment program of “Abrau-Durso” which will invest more than €2.3 million in the development of the plant. “Sheki Sharab” was opened in 2008 and has modern European equipment.

“Abrau-Durso” plans to produce elite, as well as dessert wines in Azerbaijan.

“Now Azerbaijan has enough raw materials to expand production. The authorities of the country are interested in the entry of local wine into the international market, so they provide all-round support to winemakers. The implementation of the state program of Azerbaijan on the development of winemaking provides for rise in local wine exports by five times by 2025,” the report says.

Wines produced in Sheki “Abrau-Durso” are expected to be exported first of all to Russia.

The Sheki winery was founded in 2006 in Chelebikhan settlement. Its production capacity is 200 thousand decaliters of wine.
