ADY Explores Railway Cooperation Expansion with Russia and Iran

Moscow: A delegation led by Rovshan Rustamov, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways (ADY), an AZCON Holding company, conducted bilateral and trilateral meetings with Russian and Iranian railway officials during a working visit to the Russian Federation, ADY informed APA-Economics.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the discussions centered on the current status and prospective expansion of cooperation, focusing on the International North-South Transport Corridor. This included efforts to enhance route efficiency and increase freight volumes along the corridor.

The meetings also explored opportunities to expedite digitalisation across the corridor, discussing the implementation of modern digital solutions aimed at improving operational efficiency and connectivity.

The trilateral meeting concluded with the signing of a joint protocol that outlined the shared commitments of the participants.

During the bilateral meeting, ADY and Russian Railways exchanged views on human capital development and discussed opportunities to mutually enhance workforce capabilities and professional expertise.

As part of the visit, ADY representatives engaged with Russian cargo owners and logistics stakeholders, showcasing safe and reliable transport services offered through the East-West and North-South transport corridors.

The discussions placed particular focus on the expanding capabilities of the Astara Terminal, a strategic location on the North-South corridor, and its growing potential for transshipment operations.

Additionally, insights into ADY's Cargo Tracking digital platform were presented, highlighting features such as real-time shipment monitoring, improved operational transparency, and more efficient freight management. Other digital solutions aimed at enhancing customer experience and logistics performance were also showcased to freight market participants.

The parties emphasized that ongoing cooperation and joint initiatives would greatly contribute to the development of the International North-South Transport Corridor and strengthen regional transport connectivity.
