Kabul: Afghanistan's National Environmental Protection Agency has initiated discussions with Azerbaijani companies concerning solid household waste management, as stated by Javidullah Hamed, the agency's Director for Sustainable Development. Although talks are underway, no contracts or agreements have been finalized yet.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Afghanistan is facing increased housing demands due to recent floods. Approximately five million people have returned from neighboring countries, alongside a significant migration from rural areas to urban centers. This influx has heightened the need for essential services, placing cities under considerable strain. Consequently, Afghanistan is actively working on infrastructure development and housing projects for returnees and internally displaced persons. These initiatives are expected to offer opportunities for construction companies and facilitate sustainable development planning.

Hamed emphasized the significance of international forums like WUF13 as platforms for Afghanistan to establish global connections and gain from shared experiences and knowledge. He urged the international community to assist Afghanistan in addressing its housing and infrastructure challenges, highlighting the urgent need for support to ensure safe housing for the Afghan population.
