Baku: The Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ) is positioned as a crucial platform driving the advancement of Azerbaijan's non-oil sector, enhancing export-oriented production, and attracting foreign investments, as articulated by Valeh Alasgarov, Chairman of the Board of AFEZ Authority. Alasgarov shared these insights during his address at the 'TECHNOVATION: Science and Innovation for Sustainable Economic Transformation' conference held in Baku.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Alasgarov emphasized the importance of enterprises within the zone focusing on export-oriented production. He highlighted that this strategy not only mitigates the risks associated with unequal competition when targeting the local market but also strengthens Azerbaijan's integration into global production and trade networks.
Alasgarov further explained that the zone's primary objective is to bolster the development of high value-added production sectors within Azerbaijan. This includes expanding the opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses and enhancing the country's export capabilities, thereby contributing significantly to its economic growth.
