American Expert Highlights Azerbaijan’s Role in New Board of Peace

Washington d.c.: Paolo von Schirach, President of the Global Policy Institute and Professor of Political Science and International Relations at Bay Atlantic University, emphasized Azerbaijan's potential contribution to the newly established Board of Peace, an international initiative led by the United States under President Trump's leadership. He shared his insights with AZERTAC, highlighting the importance of Azerbaijan's involvement in this endeavor.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Board of Peace emerges from American efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Schirach noted the significance of this initiative, which includes participants from various regions worldwide, as a potential new development in international peace efforts. He emphasized the challenges faced by existing peacekeeping bodies like the United Nations Security Council, whose operations are often hampered by political differences.

Schirach pointed out that while the Board of Peace's specific mandate, jurisdiction, and enforcement tools remain unclear, Azerbaijan's experience in conflict resolution could be invaluable. Having been in a longstanding conflict with Armenia, Azerbaijan successfully regained control over its territory, showcasing its capability in establishing lasting peace. Schirach believes that Azerbaijan's direct experience and unique perspective will be crucial for the effective functioning of the Board of Peace, which aims to uphold international stability inspired by American leadership.
