American Jewish Leaders Congratulate Azerbaijan on Independence Day

Baku: Representatives from the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations have extended their congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the country's Independence Day, celebrated on May 28.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the congratulatory message from Chair Betsy Berns Korn and CEO William C. Daroff highlighted the 108th anniversary of the founding of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. They acknowledged the historical significance of this milestone, emphasizing the legacy of representative governance, equal rights, and inclusion, as demonstrated by the involvement of a Jewish representative in the republic's first parliament in 1918.

The statement also reflected on a recent visit by a delegation of American Jewish leaders to Azerbaijan in February. During this visit, the delegation observed the nation's values of openness, pluralism, and mutual respect, along with its tradition of religious tolerance and cultural heritage. The leaders expressed their appreciation for the hospitality they received and noted the lasting impression it left on them.

In their message, they conveyed their best wishes for Azerbaijan's continued prosperity, security, and success. They also expressed hope for strengthening the bonds of friendship, understanding, and cooperation between the American Jewish community and Azerbaijan in the future.
