Amman: The opening ceremony of the “Echoes of Centuries: Musical Instruments of Azerbaijan” exhibition was held in Amman, Jordan. Organized under the patronage of Princess Dana Firas, President of the Petra National Trust and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, the event was jointly arranged by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Jordan with the support of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the exhibition attracted representatives from Jordan’s state and cultural institutions, members of the diplomatic corps, scholars, artists, and notable figures from the local community. Azerbaijani Ambassador to Jordan Eldar Salimov, speaking at the ceremony, emphasized the ancient roots of Azerbaijan’s musical heritage, referencing rock carvings in Gobustan and Gamigaya that depict music and dance scenes.

Ambassador Salimov further noted that Azerbaijani musical culture has progressed significantly under President Ilham Aliyev’s leadership, citing the revival of the ‘Kharibulbul’ festival in Shusha as a symbol of this cultural renaissance. The ambassador also presented musical instruments and carpets, representing Azerbaijan’s artisanal heritage, to the Petra National Trust on behalf of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO.

The event featured a performance by the Jordanian group ‘Duroob,’ who played classical pieces of Azerbaijani national music, adding a musical highlight to the exhibition.
