ANAMA Chairman Reports Over 260,000 Mines Neutralized Since Patriotic War

Baku: Over 260,000 mines and other explosive ordnance have been neutralized since the conclusion of the Patriotic War, according to Vugar Suleymanov, Chairman of the Board of the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan. During the opening ceremony of the 4th International Mine Action Conference, Suleymanov highlighted the extensive efforts undertaken by ANAMA and other organizations in humanitarian demining activities. These efforts have resulted in the clearance of more than 298,000 hectares of land.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, since November 2020, the demining operations have been closely associated with the reconstruction of liberated territories and urban recovery. During this period, over 103,000 hectares of land have been cleared specifically for residential infrastructure. This has facilitated the development of new settlements, complexes, schools, hospitals, public facilities, and essential services for returning residents.
