Anama: In a significant mine-clearance effort, the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) successfully neutralized 117 mines and 2,254 unexploded ordnance (UXOs) over the past week. From March 30 to April 5, operations were conducted across multiple districts, including Tartar, Aghdara, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Khojaly, Khankendi, Khojavend, Lachin, Shusha, Fuzuli, Gubadli, Jabrayil, and Zangilan.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, ANAMA's operations resulted in the detection and neutralization of 83 anti-personnel mines and 34 anti-tank mines. In addition to these mines, a total of 2,254 UXOs were neutralized during the week-long operation. The extensive clearance operations covered a total area of 2,278.1 hectares, returning this land to safe usage.
The mine-clearance activities by ANAMA play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of these districts, enabling the safe return of displaced residents and the resumption of agricultural and development activities in the region.
