Anar Guliyev Highlights Azerbaijan’s Reconstruction Efforts at WUF13

Baku: Azerbaijan shared its experience in sustainable urban development, the organization of national urban forums, as well as the large-scale reconstruction and revival efforts carried out in the liberated regions of Karabakh and East Zangezur. This was stated by Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture and National Coordinator of WUF13, during the closing ceremony of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Guliyev highlighted that these territories had been subjected to urbicide, ecocide, and culturicide during the occupation period. He emphasized that the reconstruction process underway in these regions is unprecedented in scale and could serve as a model for other post-conflict situations worldwide.

He further explained that Azerbaijan is utilizing its financial resources and national potential to ensure the safe and dignified return of internally displaced persons to their native lands as part of the Great Return Program. As part of these efforts, plans for approximately 110 cities, settlements, and villages have already been approved, with additional plans for other residential areas still under development.
