Baku: 'WUF13 is progressing toward its goals," Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, said during the event titled 'Advancing Housing Through Multilateralism: From Global Commitments to Local Impact' held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports. He emphasized the need to shift focus from policy development to effective implementation, highlighting that cities operate as interconnected ecosystems where housing policy should be integrated with transport, labor markets, environment, energy efficiency, and social infrastructure.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Guliyev stressed the importance of multilateralism not just as a platform for consultation but as a model for implementation-oriented cooperation. He pointed out that cities require financing, technology transfer, institutional partnerships, and skills development to progress. Guliyev acknowledged that state resources alone are insufficient, making public-private partnerships and innovative financing mechanisms essential.

Azerbaijan is committed to sustainable housing and urban resilience through integrated planning and a long-term strategic vision. The country has instituted special representatives to ensure effective coordination in liberated territories. Additionally, Azerbaijan is actively localizing the Sustainable Development Goals by integrating them into local planning. The discussions at WUF13 provide a significant opportunity to enhance multilateral cooperation and deliver more effective responses to global urban challenges.
