Baku: The purposeful uproar recently raised in Armenia regarding the Caucasian Albanian monuments located in Azerbaijan's Karabakh region-specifically the Gandzasar Monastery-amounts to nothing more than an attempt to manufacture a cheap, meaningless sensation completely divorced from historical and scientific reality, APA reports. This assessment was articulated in a statement issued by staff members of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) concerning the controversy stirred up in Armenia over the Gandzasar Monastery.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the statement emphasizes that the Gandzasar Monastery complex, including the Gandzasar Monastery itself, is a historical monument belonging to Caucasian Albania and has no connection to Armenian history. The ANAS staff members assert that the link between this monument and the indigenous Albanian population has been long established through irrefutable historical and archaeological evidence.

The statement further elaborates that one of the most significant facts confirming the Albanian heritage of the Gandzasar Monastery is its construction within the historical geographical territory of Caucasian Albania. This region, as per the statement, had no historical connection to Armenians. The territory was identified as one of the principal provinces of the Caucasian Albanian state, sharing in its historical development, thereby undermining claims of any Armenian linkage.
