Andijan Hosts First Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Rectors’ Forum Focused on Higher Education Cooperation

Andijan: The city of Andijan recently hosted the inaugural Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Rectors’ Forum on May 28-29. The event, titled ‘Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan: Priority Directions in the Development of Cooperation in Higher Education,’ aimed to implement tasks from the 13th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan on Cooperation. It sought to expand relations in science and higher education, as reported by the Ministry of Science and Education to APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the forum took place during a visit by a delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Idris Isayev, to Uzbekistan. Heads of higher education institutions from both Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan participated in the event.

Uzbekistan’s First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Shakhruh Daliyev, and the Deputy Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Idris Isayev, addressed the audience at the opening of the forum. They highlighted the growing cooperation between the two countries in science and higher education and noted that the forum would foster inter-university partnerships and the development of joint projects.

The sessions covered various topics, including the establishment of dual degree programs, student and faculty exchanges, joint scientific research, and advancements in international rankings. Cooperation documents were signed between Azerbaijani universities such as ASOIU, UNEC, ASU, ASPU, ASUCA, AzTU, AzMIA, AMU, BSU, BMU, BSU, LDU, MSU, NSU, QAFU, SSU, and leading higher education institutions in Uzbekistan. These agreements set the groundwork for new collaborative projects.
