“Due to aphtae epizooticae disease broke out in our country in 2001, our country still faces restrictions on the export of live animals and products of animal origin,” said Galib Abdulaliyev, Head of Animal Health Department of the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan Republic – Chief Veterinary Officer at a press conference with the participation of experts from the FAO Headquarters within the framework of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Technical Cooperation Program, APA reports.

According to him, due to the fact that our country has not received free status from the World Organization for Animal Health, restrictions remain: “After the liberation of our territories from occupation and the restoration of our borders, an initiative has been put forward to establish animal disease-free zones, especially due to aphtae epizooticae disease.
