Moscow: An armed attack was carried out at a market in Moscow Oblast where Azerbaijanis work, APA’s Russian bureau reports. The incident took place in the Fryanovo settlement of the Shchyolkovo district of Moscow Oblast. Two individuals armed with a ‘Winchester’ type firearm entered the market and threatened non-Russian nationals, including Azerbaijanis.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, video footage of the attack, captured by nearby surveillance cameras, shows the assailants threatening migrants at the market. Svetlana Mammadova, a local resident working at the market, attempted to intervene and was struck by the attackers. She identified the assailants as Sergey and Aleksandr Gavrilov, who reportedly opposed the presence of non-Russian nationals in the area.

Alekber Garayev, a lawyer residing in Russia, received the footage from Azerbaijanis living in Fryanovo. He expressed concern over the severity of the situation, emphasizing the need for authorities to uphold constitutional equality and protect the rights of all nationalities.

Svetlana Mammadova has filed a complaint with the police, though she reported that no action has been taken yet. She noted that this was not the first incident involving the Gavrilov brothers at the market. The Fryanovo police department stated that an investigation is underway.
