Baku: In a recent phone conversation, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev exchanged views on the first anniversary of the August 8, 2025 Washington Peace Summit. This summit, supported by U.S. President Donald Trump, marked a significant milestone in establishing peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the initialling of a Peace Agreement between the two nations. According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, both leaders acknowledged the critical role played by President Donald Trump and the United States government in advancing the peace process. They discussed the progress made over the past year in normalizing relations between the two countries. The conversation also highlighted the development of trade and economic ties as a tangible benefit of peace. Azerbaijani petroleum products are now being exported to Armenia, and transit cargo is being transported through Azerbaijan to Armenia and onward to other destinations. A dditionally, the leaders exchanged views on implementing the TRIPP route, a project aligned with the agreements reached in Washington. They emphasized the ongoing efforts needed to advance the peace process and ensure lasting peace, stability, connectivity, and economic cooperation in the region.
