Armenian-Turkish improvement firmly linked to progress that can be achieved between Baku and Yerevan – official

BAKU: The improvement of relations between Armenia and Trkiye is very closely linked to the progress that can be made between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Special Assignments Elchin Amirbayov said at an online seminar at Washington’s Hudson Institute, Trend reports.

‘As official Baku has repeatedly stated, I think our approach to solving all the remaining difficulties, problems, and challenges in the region is quite holistic. Therefore, I think our Turkish friends also realize that the improvement of relations between Armenia and Trkiye is very closely linked to the progress that can be made between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The borders were closed in 1993 due to Armenian aggression and occupation

I think we are on the same wavelength with our Turkish friends because they also realize that the issue of territorial claims in the South Caucasus region needs to be resolved immediately and any steps that could complicate the already very fragile atm
osphere around the peace process should be avoided,’ he said.

To note, the V meeting of the Special Representatives for Normalization of Relations between the two countries, Ruben Rubinyan and Sardar Kiliç was held today on the Armenian-Turkish border. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue the settlement process without any preconditions to achieve the ultimate goal of the settlement of relations between the two countries.
