Baku: An arrest warrant has been issued in absentia for Abbas Abbasov, the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan said in a statement, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Abbas Abbasov has been held responsible as an accused under Article 278.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This article pertains to actions aimed at the forcible seizure or retention of power, as well as the forcible change of the constitutional structure of the state.

As Abbasov is currently outside the territory of Azerbaijan and evading the investigation, he has been declared wanted. Consequently, the court has opted for a preventive measure of arrest in absentia against him.
