Arrest Warrants Issued for Russian Citizens in Baku Drug Transit Case

Baku: The trial of a group of Russian citizens detained in Baku has been held, APA reports. The Sabail District Court, presided over by Judge Ulviyya Shukurova, issued arrest warrants for four individuals, each for four months. This development follows their detention in connection with a drug transit operation from Iran.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the trial involves a criminal group of eight Russian citizens accused of drug transit, distribution, and cyber fraud activities linked to Iran. The Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted the operation that led to their arrest. The court proceedings are ongoing, with the individuals being presented one by one before the judgeship of Ulviyya Shukurova.

The last of the eight detained individuals was sentenced to a four-month arrest warrant under Judge Azer Taghiyev's oversight. The trial is a significant step in addressing the alleged illegal activities, and the Sabail District Court will continue to consider the cases of the remaining individuals. The Ministry of Internal Affairs' operation underscores efforts to combat drug-related crimes and cyber fraud in the region.
