Kyrgyzstani Taiyrbek Zhumashbek uulu won a gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the Asian Championship in Astana (Kazakhstan).

In the weight category up to 61 kilograms, he defeated athletes from Japan and Iran.

In the final, he defeated the Chinese wrestler Liu Minghu.

Taiyrbek Zhumashbek uulu is the 2022 Asian champion among athletes under 23 years old, as well as the silver medalist of the World Championship in the same age category.

Almaz Smanbekov won a silver medal, and Ulugbek Zholdoshbekov and Orozbek Toktomambetov won bronze medals at the Asian Championship.
