Assistant to Azerbaijani President Criticizes EU’s Approach to Armenia

Baku: “We would like to see the European Union’s (EU) new policy towards our region. The EU’s policy in the South Caucasus should not be concluded with one country,” stated Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan. His remarks were made during a panel discussion on “Geopolitical Shifts: Responsible Partnerships versus Rivalry” at the 12th Global Forum.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Hajiyev expressed concerns regarding the EU’s actions, noting that the EU is arming Armenia and attempting to separate it from the regional framework. He emphasized Azerbaijan’s commitment to ensuring that the EU’s policy remains inclusive at the regional level.

Hikmat Hajiyev further highlighted the emergence of a new reality in the post-Soviet space, underscoring Azerbaijan’s role as a reliable partner amidst these changes.
