Baku: “Azerbaijan is closely monitoring the ongoing changes. As a country, we see that polarization is taking place,” said Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, Hikmat Hajiyev during the panel titled “Geopolitical Changes: Responsible Partnership versus Rivalry” within the framework of the 12th Global Forum, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Mr. Hajiyev emphasized Azerbaijan’s commitment to multilateral diplomacy. He highlighted the deepening East-West confrontation and noted that the rivalry among major powers does not always align with regional interests. Azerbaijan has been proactive in preventing geopolitical clashes in the South Caucasus and has used military-political means to end occupation, establishing a new status quo based on the sovereignty of countries in the region.
Mr. Hajiyev asserted that the South Caucasus region is integral to Azerbaijan and that external powers often interfere without understanding the local context. He stressed that Armenia should focus on seeking its security within the South Caucasus rather than looking beyond its borders for solutions.
