Astrakhan: A concert marking the 140th anniversary of the renowned Azerbaijani composer, Uzeyir Hajibeyli, took place in Astrakhan, Russia. The event celebrated the legacy of Hajibeyli, a pivotal figure in Azerbaijani music history, known for his contributions as a composer, musicologist, and playwright, as well as for founding modern Azerbaijani professional music.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the concert was organized with the support of Igor Babushkin, Governor of the Astrakhan Region, in collaboration with Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Work with Diaspora, the country’s Embassy in Russia, and ABB-Moscow Bank. The occasion brought together a diverse array of musical compositions, showcasing works by prominent Azerbaijani, Russian, and Italian composers.

The program featured compositions by Uzeyir Hajibeyli, along with pieces by Niyazi, Tofig Guliyev, Farhad Badalbayli, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Giuseppe Verdi, and Giacomo Puccini. These works were performed by leading Azerbaijani musicians, who were accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of the Astrakhan State Opera and Ballet Theater, highlighting a blend of Azerbaijani and international musical heritage.
