On November 3, the Cabinet of Ministers amended the Charter of “Azerbaijan Airlines” CJSC, according to which the board of the state airline will have not one, but two Vice-Presidents.
In general, total number of members (7 persons, including the President) of the executive body of “AZAL” has remained. At present, after the dismissal of two Vice-Presidents, one seat remains vacant on the board of the national airline.
Jahangir Askerov has been the President of “AZAL” since 1996. The position of the First Vice-President is occupied by Sabir Ilyasov.
At present, “AZAL” CJSC includes the following structures: the national air carrier “Azerbaijan Airlines”, the low-budget air carrier “Buta Airways,” the air traffic control “Azeraeronavigation AZANS”, the National Aviation Academy, the General Aviation Security Directorate (UAB), the fuel and lubricants department “AZAL OIL”, 7 international airports in Baku, Ganja, Lankaran, Zagatala, Gabala, Fuzuli, Zangilan and Lachin (under construction), as well as the airport in Yevlakh and representative offices in foreign countries
