Azerbaijan Adopts New Standard for AI Management Systems

Baku: The Azerbaijan Standardization Institute (AZSTAND), operating under the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Supervision under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has officially adopted the state standard AZS ISO/IEC 42001:2025 ‘Information technology – Artificial intelligence – Management system.’

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the newly established standard outlines key requirements for risk management, ethical principles, and transparency in the deployment of artificial intelligence technologies. It also encompasses the latest algorithms and methodologies for the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of artificial intelligence systems.

The standard, categorized under ‘Information and communication technologies,’ was thoroughly reviewed by the Technical Committee on Standardization (AZSTAND/TK 05). It received approval from the Institute and has been added to the State Fund of Normative Documents on Standardization.

The adoption of this new state standard aligns with subparagraph 8.1.5 of the Action Plan for the implementation of the “Artificial Intelligence Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025-2028”. This plan was sanctioned by Order No. 530 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on March 19, 2025.
