Azerbaijan Adopts New State Standard for Energy Management Systems

Baku: The Azerbaijan Standardization Institute (AZSTAND), which operates under the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control, has approved a new national standard, AZS ISO 50003:2025, focused on energy management systems. This standard, titled ‘Energy management systems – Requirements for bodies conducting audit and certification of energy management systems,’ aims to enhance the efficiency of energy resource utilization by establishing guidelines for auditing processes.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the new standard outlines requirements for the competence, consistency, and impartiality of bodies that conduct audits and certifications of Energy Management Systems (EMS). The implementation of this standard is expected to facilitate enterprises in optimizing their energy resources.

The standard was thoroughly examined by the Technical Committee for Standardization in the field of “Electric Power and Renewable Energy” (AZSTAND/TK 46). Following discussions, it was adopted by the Azerbaijan Standardization Institute and has been incorporated into the State Fund of Normative Documents on Standardization.
