Azerbaijan Advances in Karabakh Conflict, Liberates Zangilan


BAKU: The Azerbaijani Army’s ongoing counter-offensive operation, known as “Iron Fist,” has led to significant territorial gains, including the liberation of the city of Zangilan and 24 villages from Armenian occupation. This development marks a pivotal moment in the Second Karabakh War, which erupted on September 27, 2020, and aims to restore Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity after nearly three decades of conflict.

According to Trend News Agency, President Ilham Aliyev addressed the nation, announcing the liberation of Zangilan and a substantial number of villages, highlighting the strategic victories achieved by Azerbaijani forces. In a symbolic gesture, President Aliyev renamed Vang village in the Khojavand district to Chinarli, reinforcing Azerbaijan’s sovereign claims over the regained territories.

First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva also expressed her support for the military achievements through a publication on her Instagram account, celebrating the liberation of areas in the Fuzuli, Jabrayil, Kh
ojavand, and Zangilan districts. The Azerbaijani flag has been raised in Zangilan, marking a significant victory for the nation.

As the conflict continues, video footage has been released showcasing the destruction of Armenian armored vehicles and military equipment, with reports indicating a group of Armenian mercenaries refusing to continue fighting. Amid these developments, the Armenian Armed Forces have retaliated by shelling Tartar and Aghdam districts, resulting in the death of two civilians.

Further reports highlight the destruction of Armenian anti-aircraft guns near Ganja and the decimation of Armenian units in the Gubadli direction through targeted strikes. These military operations underline the escalating nature of the conflict and the shifting balance of power in the region.
