Azerbaijan Amends Intelligence and Counterintelligence Law to Enhance Secrecy and Collaboration


BAKU: Azerbaijan has revised its law on intelligence and counterintelligence activities, granting agencies the authority to withhold reasons for rejecting individuals from military service within these organizations. The amendment, which aims to bolster secrecy in line with the unique roles of these entities, was discussed and passed on its first reading during a session of the Azerbaijani Parliament.

According to Trend News Agency, the proposed legal changes are designed to improve the skills and expertise of personnel in the intelligence and counterintelligence sectors. The revisions are also intended to enhance the organizations’ capacity to collaborate with foreign law enforcement and intelligence bodies, allowing for professional growth and training through specific programs.

The amendment reflects Azerbaijan’s commitment to strengthening its intelligence capabilities and fostering international cooperation in these critical areas.
