Azerbaijan and ACWA Power Explore Electricity Transmission Cooperation

Riyadh: Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan's Energy Minister, engaged in discussions with Mohammad Abunayyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACWA Power, during his visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting highlighted ACWA Power's role as a significant partner for Azerbaijan in the energy sector, emphasizing the cooperation as a testament to the strong bilateral relations with Saudi Arabia.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, both parties recognized the significance of the 240 MW Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Plant and sea water desalination projects that are being jointly executed. They acknowledged the successful completion of the wind farm's construction and its integration into the national grid, underscoring the importance of their collaborative efforts in this achievement.

The discussions further delved into the status of electric power interconnectors projects traversing the Black Sea, Europe, Central Asia, and Nakhchivan routes. The meeting also explored cooperation opportunities in the development and transmission of green energy, involving Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Additionally, the potential for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and ACWA Power in electricity generation and transmission was a focal point of the meeting.
