Antalya: Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum. The meeting took place on April 18, where both sides engaged in discussions to explore and enhance the prospects for bilateral relations.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the focus of the discussions was on the existing bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Algeria, with an emphasis on political, economic, and humanitarian relations. The establishment of a Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation was highlighted as a crucial step in furthering these relations. Additionally, the ministers recognized the significance of uniting business communities to facilitate joint projects.
The dialogue also covered cooperation within international frameworks, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement. In light of Azerbaijan's upcoming hosting of the OIC Summit in 2027, joint activities were considered important. The ministers also discussed the need to reduce tensions in the Middle East, emphasizing the importance of strengthening ceasefires and resolving conflicts through diplomatic channels.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on other mutual interests, reinforcing the commitment to advancing collaboration between Azerbaijan and Algeria.
