Baku: Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy, met with a delegation from Belgium headed by former Prime Minister Yves Leterme, accompanied by representatives of W Kracht, a company specializing in onshore wind energy projects. The discussion centered on potential cooperation in the implementation and export of renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Minister Parviz Shahbazov highlighted Azerbaijan's significant role in fostering stability and cooperative relations in the region. He mentioned the country's strategic focus on renewable energy development and the establishment of energy corridors, which have garnered international attention. Azerbaijan is currently developing 11 wind and solar power plant projects, and a grid study is underway to explore the integration of new generation capacities into the existing electricity network.
The minister informed the Belgian delegation about Azerbaijan's plans to set up data centers to boost electricity generation demand and infrastructure projects aimed at exporting electricity to Europe. He noted that an electricity interconnection with Eastern Europe is planned for 2032. Azerbaijan is eager to partner with European companies involved in energy generation and electricity trade in Eastern European markets.
