Azerbaijan and China Datang Corporation to Collaborate on Green Energy Initiatives


BAKU: Azerbaijan and China Datang Corporation Limited have announced plans to collaborate in the green energy sector, as revealed by Azerbaijan’s energy minister, Parviz Shahbazov. This partnership aims to leverage the expertise and international experience of China Datang Corporation Limited in various renewable energy projects such as solar, wind, and green hydrogen production.

According to Trend News Agency, Minister Shahbazov shared insights about the cooperation on the social media platform X. He highlighted the discussions held in Beijing, where the corporation’s capabilities in planning, designing, constructing, operating, and financing renewable energy projects were showcased. Zou Lei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of China Datang Corporation Limited, evaluated potential investment cooperation focusing on solar power plants, onshore and offshore wind power plants, energy storage, and green hydrogen production projects. Shahbazov also mentioned that a Memorandum of Understanding is expected to be
signed soon, formalizing the collaboration between Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy and the Chinese company.

Azerbaijan is actively pursuing negotiations with Chinese companies to enhance its renewable energy sector. The country is exploring various avenues of cooperation with China, including energy-saving systems, grid enhancement, and the export of green energy. There are also discussions about offshore wind energy and the supply of high-voltage direct current cables, with an emphasis on adopting the latest practices in these areas.

Chinese companies have shown interest in participating in large-scale renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan, recognizing the region’s significant potential. They are currently assessing investment opportunities to establish renewable energy plants, furthering Azerbaijan’s commitment to sustainable energy development.
