Baku: Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov, recently engaged in discussions with He Shiyou, Executive Vice President of Powerchina Resources Ltd., focusing on collaborative energy projects. The dialogue centered around the implementation of a 160 MW solar power plant, the development of 2 GW offshore wind energy projects, and exploring new investment opportunities.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, significant progress was made on the solar power project, with plans underway for its integration into Azerbaijan's national grid. This integration forms a part of the second phase of the country's renewable energy expansion. The officials emphasized the importance of ongoing grid studies conducted by China's Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute (EPPEI) in this phase.

He Shiyou highlighted Powerchina Resources' strategic focus on renewable energy cooperation with Azerbaijan, showing a keen interest in identifying further investment opportunities. The discussions also delved into China's policies related to smart grid development, establishing a new energy system, accelerating digital transformation, and utilizing renewable energy to power data centers and AI systems. Additionally, they addressed challenges within the global energy and industrial value chain.
