Beijing: Azerbaijan and China have taken a significant step in enhancing their collaborative efforts in the audiovisual media sector by signing a memorandum of cooperation in the field of radio and television broadcasting. This development occurred during a visit by the Azerbaijani delegation to the People’s Republic of China, where they engaged in discussions with Cao Shumin, Minister of the National Radio and Television Administration of China (NRTA), and other senior officials.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting featured Ismat Sattarov, Chairman of the Audiovisual Council, who underscored the importance of deepening the relationship between Azerbaijan and China in the audiovisual media domain. Sattarov highlighted ongoing dialogues concerning audiovisual regulatory policies and the pivotal role of technological exchange. The focus is on adopting innovative solutions, such as artificial intelligence, big data, and 5G, and jointly developing the industry. Establishing sustainable relations between regulatory bodies was emphasized as a means to bolster experience exchange and coordinated activities.
Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the need to enhance cooperation in the media field further. He pointed out key areas for collaboration, including expanding institutional ties, implementing joint projects, applying modern technologies, training professional staff, and promoting mutual exchange of experience. Ismayilov stated that aligning the media environment with global challenges, particularly by exchanging approaches and mechanisms to combat misinformation, is a priority.

The memorandum aims to bolster cooperation in radio and television broadcasting and expedite the exchange of experience and personnel.
The Azerbaijani delegation included Ahmad Ismayilov, Ismat Sattarov, Kamran Hasanov, Head of the Media Sector of the Department for Work with Non-Governmental Organizations and Communication of the Presidential Administration; Vugar Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC); and Rufat Hamzayev, Executive Director of the AnewZ TV channel.
