Azerbaijan and China Strengthen Tourism Cooperation

Beijing: The Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) recently held a series of events in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, aimed at fostering stronger ties between the tourism industries of Azerbaijan and China. The events, which took place from September 15 to 19, gathered representatives from both countries to explore collaborative opportunities.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, discussions during the meetings focused on avenues for cooperation with Chinese companies. The Azerbaijani delegation, which included officials from the ATB, also engaged with Azerbaijan's Ambassador to China, Bunyad Huseynov. A significant outcome of the meetings was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the ATB and Qunar, a leading online travel booking platform in China. This agreement aims to promote Azerbaijan's tourism potential in the Chinese market through Qunar's digital channels and apply innovative strategies to enhance Azerbaijan's appeal as a travel destination.

The initiative further included a business dinner attended by nearly 60 representatives from notable Chinese travel companies such as Fliggy, Trip.com, and 8Continents, alongside 20 local Azerbaijani partners. The series of events wrapped up with business-to-business meetings in Guangzhou, marking a step forward in Azerbaijan's efforts to expand its tourism footprint in China.
