Baku: Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, held a meeting with Colombia's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Juana Castro Santamaria, to discuss the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations between the two nations.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the discussions focused on expanding political dialogue and enhancing economic and trade relations. Both sides explored several areas of mutual interest, including tourism, visa liberalization, education, culture, humanitarian cooperation, student exchange, and interparliamentary relations. The growing interest in the Spanish language in Azerbaijan and the participation of citizens in related programs were acknowledged.

Azerbaijan's role as host of COP29 and its leadership in various international platforms were recognized during the meeting. The representatives also deliberated on cooperation within multilateral platforms, emphasizing the importance of mutual support in international organizations.

Given that both nations face challenges related to landmines, cooperation in demining efforts was highlighted as a significant area of collaboration. The meeting also touched on other topics of mutual interest.

The same day, the next round of political consultations took place, led by Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov and Colombia's Deputy Foreign Minister Juana Castro Santamaria.
