Azerbaijan and Czech Republic Reinforce Economic and Energy Ties in High-Level Meeting

Gabala: On April 27, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrej Babi€š¬…¡¬¦¡ delivered press statements in Gabala. The meeting marked a significant step in the dynamic development of relations between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic, focusing on economic and energy cooperation.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev expressed satisfaction with the strong political dialogue between the two countries, highlighting the increasing trade turnover, which currently stands at over 800 million dollars. He emphasized the need for a more balanced trade structure, moving beyond Azerbaijani oil exports to include diverse economic and investment-oriented projects. Discussions also covered the energy sector, where Azerbaijan is a key oil supplier to the Czech Republic, and explored future cooperation in natural gas exports.

Prime Minister Babi€š¬…¡¬¦¡ acknowledged Azerbaijan as a strategic partner, emphasizing the importance of energy collaboration. He highlighted Azerbaijan's role as the largest oil supplier to the Czech Republic, with 42% of imported oil coming from the country. The Prime Minister also expressed interest in signing long-term gas supply contracts through the Czech company CEZ. The delegation included 50 Czech companies, showcasing a strong interest in joint ventures and investments in Azerbaijan.

Both leaders discussed the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in defense, transportation, and scientific research. The meeting underscored the prospects for enhancing economic relations and solidifying strategic partnerships between the two nations.
