Azerbaijan and EU Examine Strategic Energy Partnership

Brussels: Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy, recently held a meeting with Cristina Lobillo Borrero, Director of the Energy Platform and International Relations Group at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy. The discussions centered around the strategic energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union, with a focus on energy security, gas supply, renewables, electricity interconnections, and regional integration.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting also tackled the geopolitical impacts on energy markets, emphasizing Azerbaijan's significant role in the EU's diversification efforts and its reputation as a reliable gas partner. The parties reviewed the implementation status of the 'Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor' project and its potential integration into the European electricity market. This project is considered a strategic initiative contributing to the European Union's energy security and diversification of energy sources.

Further discussions included an exchange of views on the prospects for cooperation in renewable energy generation, energy storage systems, the modernization of electricity grids, and the integration of regional energy markets.
