New york: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Alexander Stubb, President of the Republic of Finland, at the UN headquarters in New York. The discussion focused on the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as cooperation between Azerbaijan and Finland.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Finnish President congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on the progress made in normalizing relations with Armenia and the significant achievements reached in Washington. He reiterated Finland’s support for peace in the region. In response, President Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the congratulations and highlighted Finland’s role during its Chairpersonship of the OSCE, particularly the decision to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group. He emphasized that Azerbaijan and Armenia are now in a phase of peace.

Both presidents underscored the importance of joint efforts to advance the peace agenda. They also discussed bilateral cooperation, collaboration within international organizations, and shared views on Azerbaijan-European Union relations.
