Azerbaijan and Hungary Strengthen Educational Ties Through University Collaboration

Baku: A delegation from Hungary visited the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) to explore opportunities for educational cooperation between the two nations. The group, led by Hungarian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Tam¡s J³zsef Torma, engaged in discussions aimed at expanding research ties and implementing joint initiatives between the higher education institutions of Azerbaijan and Hungary.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Hungarian delegation included notable figures such as J¡nos Abonyi, Rector of the University of Pannonia; Zolt¡n Birkner, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Pannonia Foundation; M³nika Felf¶ldi, Diplomat for Education and Culture at the Hungarian Embassy; and J³zsef Goldfarb, CEO of the Azerbaijan branch of Hungary's MVM Upstream Private Limited Company. The meeting was also attended by Rufat Azizov, ASOIU Rector, along with Elviz Ismayilov, ASOIU Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, and other department heads.

Rector Rufat Azizov provided a comprehensive overview of ASOIU's history, educational offerings, research directions, and international collaborations. He highlighted the significance of developing a new phase of cooperation with Hungarian higher education institutions and expressed the university's readiness to undertake joint projects.

The discussions focused on joint research projects, expanding student and faculty exchange programs, training young researchers under joint supervision, collaborating in innovation and technology transfer, and establishing double degree programs. An agreement was reached to pursue further activities aimed at enhancing academic ties and launching new initiatives that would benefit both universities.

During their visit, the delegation toured ASOIU's facilities, including the History Museum, Cybersecurity Laboratory, computer labs, and the UFAZ laboratories, acknowledging the institution's research infrastructure and innovation capabilities.
