Tehran: Azerbaijan and Iran have successfully concluded negotiations concerning the distribution of water resources from the Araz River. The discussions took place during the 55th meeting of the Permanent Joint Commission between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, held in Iran from June 8 to June 11. This meeting was reported by the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency to APA-Economics.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting was co-chaired by Zakir Guliyev, the Chairman of the Board of the Regional Water Reclamation Service under the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency, and Fariba Avarideh, the Head of the General Directorate for Border Rivers of Iran's Ministry of Energy. Attendees included representatives from various Azerbaijani agencies, such as the Regional Water Reclamation Service, the State Service for Control over Water Use and Protection, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and Azerenerji OJSC.

During the meeting, both countries developed and approved operational regimes for the distribution of the Araz River's water resources. Discussions also covered the monitoring of water intake, control of water quality, and the installation of modern water-measuring devices on the river. Other issues related to mutual cooperation were also addressed.

The meeting concluded with both parties signing a final protocol outlining the tasks and work to be conducted in the future.
