Baku: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Italy Sergio Mattarella held an expanded meeting to discuss the growing partnership between the two nations. Addressing the meeting, President Aliyev emphasized the importance of the visit and highlighted the multifaceted cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy, which spans sectors such as energy, industrial production, and education. He noted the strategic significance of their collaboration and the successful implementation of the Joint Declaration on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership signed five years ago.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Mattarella expressed satisfaction with the deepening ties and highlighted the strategic partnership’s expansion across various sectors. He emphasized the honor of participating in the opening of the new Italy-Azerbaijan University campus, underscoring the partnership’s cultural dimension and its potential to open new avenues for youth cooperation.
The meeting underscored the significance of energy sector projects and the broader strategic plans involving both bilateral relations and engagements with the European Union. The leaders also celebrated the upcoming inauguration of the Italy-Azerbaijan University, a project begun three years ago that has already attracted hundreds of students and symbolizes the growing friendship between the two nations.
