Astana: Presidents of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, Ilham Aliyev and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev respectively, delivered press statements highlighting the importance of their bilateral relations and strategic partnership.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Tokayev expressed gratitude to President Aliyev for visiting Kazakhstan, emphasizing the shared history and strategic partnership between the two nations. He noted the steady development of their relations and the importance of strengthening interstate connections. Tokayev outlined the primary goal of enhancing friendship and cooperation in various sectors, aligning with the fundamental interests of both nations. The visit, he stated, is pivotal for elevating Kazakh-Azerbaijani relations to a new level.
President Tokayev praised President Aliyev’s leadership in bolstering Azerbaijan’s independence and socioeconomic development. He acknowledged Azerbaijan’s achievements under Aliyev’s leadership, citing sustainable economic growth and global influence. Tokayev highlighted the significance of the visit, marking the 20th anniversary of the Treaty on Strategic Partnership and Allied Relations, and the successes in bilateral cooperation achieved over the years.
The discussions covered a broad range of bilateral issues, focusing on trade, economic ties, and infrastructure projects. Tokayev announced plans to double bilateral trade turnover and explore opportunities in agriculture, energy, and digitalization. The talks also addressed the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and the potential of expanding energy cooperation, including Kazakh oil transit through Azerbaijan.
In his statement, President Aliyev expressed gratitude for Kazakhstan’s hospitality and noted Kazakhstan’s positive transformations under Tokayev’s leadership. He highlighted the fraternal support Azerbaijan received from Kazakhstan during challenging times, particularly in resolving the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.
