Washington: The Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan recently hosted a meeting with Latvian Minister of Health Hosams Abu Meri, who is visiting the country on a working trip, as reported by the ministry to Trend. The meeting, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations in healthcare and medical science, also saw the participation of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Latvia to Azerbaijan, Edgars Skuja.

According to Trend News Agency, the discussions were marked by a constructive dialogue and mutual understanding, focusing on the current state and potential opportunities for developing cooperation in healthcare and medical science between Azerbaijan and Latvia. Azerbaijan's Minister of Health, Teymur Musayev, highlighted the successful cooperation between the two nations across various fields, emphasizing the availability of tools for collaboration in medical education and the exchange of modern methodological information for continuous professional education.

Musayev also pointed out the importance of digitalization in the healthcare system, noting Latvia's significant progress in developing digital healthcare. He expressed interest in learning from Latvia's experience in this area. Additionally, the potential for cooperation in medical tourism was discussed, with both countries having attractive mineral water sources and resort resources that draw tourists. Musayev mentioned the significance of ensuring access to sanatorium and spa treatments for citizens of both nations.

Latvian Minister Hosams Abu Meri expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and stressed the importance of such meetings for enhancing Latvian-Azerbaijani relations in healthcare. He expressed optimism about the future cooperation between the health ministries of both countries. Other mutual interests were also discussed during the meeting.
