Azerbaijan and Northern Cyprus Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Baku: Tahir Budagov, Deputy Chairman and Head of the Central Office of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), engaged in discussions with a delegation led by Unal Ustel, Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Chairman of the National Unity Party (UBP). The meeting underscored the deep-rooted historical traditions, shared values, and friendship between the two peoples.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the discussions highlighted the importance of enhancing recent bilateral contacts and cooperation. The participants noted significant potential in areas such as economy, trade, education, tourism, and humanitarian sectors. Additionally, the role of President Ilham Aliyev in securing observer status for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was commended by the Turkish Cypriot people.

The meeting also focused on the importance of deepening cooperation across the Turkic world. It was emphasized that enhancing the role of the Organization of Turkic States in contemporary international affairs is a strategic priority. The conversation further reviewed the current status and future prospects of relations between the ruling political parties, YAP and UBP.

Both parties stressed the importance of exchanging ideas and experiences through reciprocal visits. They expressed confidence that coordinated efforts will continue to advance their shared objectives. Discussions extended to several other topics of mutual concern, reflecting the comprehensive nature of the dialogue.
