Baku:Azerbaijan's Ministry of Science and Education and OpenAI have entered into a three-year Memorandum of Understanding to promote the responsible integration of artificial intelligence in the country's educational system.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the agreement was signed in New York by Emin Amrullayev, Azerbaijan's Minister of Science and Education, and Leah Belsky, Vice President of Education at OpenAI. The partnership aims to improve teaching and learning experiences by utilizing AI technologies, enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of education, and ensuring the safe and responsible use of AI in schools.

The collaboration will focus on creating AI-powered educational tools, providing training for teachers and educational staff on AI technologies, and establishing frameworks for the responsible use of AI. An important aspect of the partnership is the enhancement of the Ministry's learning management system with OpenAI models, particularly in mathematics, natural sciences, and reading. These tools are expected to assist teachers with lesson planning, teaching material development, and student assessments, reducing administrative burdens and allowing more direct interaction with students.

OpenAI will also support training programs for educators and students, including a 'train-the-trainer' initiative to build local expertise in AI applications. This initiative aims to develop long-term proficiency in using AI tools within educational institutions in Azerbaijan. The parties will collaborate to create guidelines and recommendations to ensure the ethical use of AI in educational settings.

This is the second such agreement between the Ministry and OpenAI, following an initial cooperation that developed an adaptive learning platform.
