Baku: Elchin Babayev, Rector of Baku State University (BSU), met with Ambassador of Pakistan to Azerbaijan, Qasim Mohiuddin, alongside Ashfaque Hasan Khan, Principal at the School of Social Sciences and Humanities of Pakistan’s National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST). The discussions centered on strengthening Azerbaijan-Pakistan scientific and cultural relations and exploring new avenues for collaboration in science, education, and culture between the two nations.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Elchin Babayev informed the guests about the ongoing collaborations between BSU and Pakistani higher education institutions, highlighting the teaching of the Urdu language at the university’s Faculty of Oriental Studies. He mentioned that a protocol of intent on cooperation was signed during his business visit to Pakistan in March 2025, marking a significant step towards enhancing bilateral academic relationships.

Babayev emphasized the importance of reciprocal visits and joint projects, which are expected to further solidify the connection between the two universities. Ambassador Qasim Mohiuddin reiterated that Azerbaijan-Pakistan relations are built on a foundation of friendship and brotherhood, and that expanding scientific and educational cooperation will enhance these bonds.

Ashfaque Hasan Khan elaborated on the capabilities of NUST University, describing it as one of Pakistan’s leading higher education institutions with robust scientific expertise in fields like artificial intelligence, data analytics, aerospace sciences, energy technologies, and information technologies. The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue collaborative efforts to expand cooperation in science, education, and culture.
