Azerbaijan and Qatar Discuss Strengthening Bilateral and Multilateral Cooperation


BAKU – Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met on Thursday with Mohammed Hamad Saad Al Fuhaid Al Hajri, the newly appointed Ambassador of Qatar, to discuss future cooperation between the two countries. The meeting addressed both bilateral and multilateral issues and developments in the region, as reported by the Ministry Press Service.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Minister Bayramov congratulated Ambassador Al Hajri on his appointment and expressed hope for continued success in the diplomat’s mission. The discussions highlighted the successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Qatar in areas such as politics, trade, economics, education, and humanitarian efforts. Both countries will soon mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations.



The meeting also emphasized the importance of political consultations and the activities of the Joint Economic, Trade, and Technical Intergovernmental Commission in enhancing bilateral ties. Additionally, the officials praised their countries’ cooperation within regional and international organizations. Azerbaijan’s upcoming Presidency of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) was mentioned as an opportunity for further collaboration.



Minister Bayramov provided an update on Azerbaijan’s post-conflict reconstruction efforts, noting the restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity, ongoing development projects in liberated territories, and the normalization process with Armenia. Ambassador Al Hajri affirmed his commitment to fostering continued cooperation between the two nations.
