Baku: On September 20, a ceremony was held in Baku to exchange documents signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Rwanda, with the participation of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Rwanda Paul Kagame, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Rwanda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in Charge of Regional Cooperation James Kabarebe exchanged several key agreements. These included the “Air Services Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Rwanda,” the “Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Education between the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Rwanda,” and the “Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources of the Republic of Rwanda.”
Additionally, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Rwanda, Ruslan Nasibov, and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Rwanda Development Board, Juliana Kangeli Muganza, exchanged the “Cooperation Programme for the Implementation of the ‘Memorandum of Understanding between the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Rwanda Development Board on Cooperation in Establishing Advanced Public Service Delivery Mechanism'” and the “Memorandum of Understanding between the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Rwanda Development Board on Behalf of the Government of the Republic of Rwanda.”
During their press statements, President Ilham Aliyev expressed gratitude for President Kagame’s visit and emphasized the mutual desire to deepen bilateral ties. President Aliyev highlighted the importance of cooperation in various sectors, including energy, mining, and education, and expressed readiness to engage in investment projects in Rwanda. He also mentioned the commitment of both nations to support each other within international institutions like the Non-Aligned Movement and the United Nations.
President Paul Kagame, in his statement, thanked President Aliyev for the invitation and the opportunity to enhance cooperation between the two countries. He noted the similarities between Rwanda and Azerbaijan and expressed eagerness to build on these similarities to foster development. President Kagame also mentioned his interest in learning from Azerbaijan’s public services delivery model and emphasized the importance of cooperation in key sectors such as petroleum and mining. He congratulated President Aliyev on Azerbaijan’s development achievements and reiterated Rwanda’s commitment to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
The agreements and discussions during the visit are expected to provide a solid foundation for further collaboration and mutual growth between Azerbaijan and Rwanda.
